In 2007 he faced criticism from prohibition activists in Kerala for appearing in advertisement of a liquor brandOru Minnaminunginte Nurungu Vettamn India advertising of liquor is banned. Marketers used different methods to get around the ban, for example by promoting non-alcoholic drinks with near-identical labels to the alcoholic ones.
